Design/Build

Many years ago we realized how important it was to offer clients the opportunity to be able to work with their builder to design their home. Many people have a specific design ideas that they want to implement themselves (and we simply put to paper) or are working within a scope that doesn't require the need for an architect. We sit down with clients and help them decide when an architect or designer may be the best option for fulfilling their needs in a project or whether we can handle design needs internally. In the event we don't handle design internally, we have a number of talented design professionals that we work with and we can help guide you to those that may be the best fit with personality/project style.

Project Management

We take many steps to ensure a project success starting with a detailed, itemized, transparent estimate. It is important to us that homeowners understand where their costs are coming from. By showing a homeowner our worksheet for construction, it allows them to ask questions and have a clear understanding of what they are getting. This also really helps ensures a client's expectations are met and, in turn, ensuring project success.

We use project management and timeline software to prepare timelines we use as a basis for homeowners making decisions and ordering materials. We work year-round and many homeowners hire us to start a home/cottage in the fall and have it completed for them in the Spring. This requires careful planning and preparation and we haven't disappointed yet!

Communication is such an important part of a relationship between builder and client. Many homeowners are not local, and don't have the opportunity to visit the jobsite daily. We make sure we utilize many different forms of communication to keep the client in the loop and have a continued feeling of presence and involvement. Communication through email, texts, etc. have proven to a new a very effective way to send progress photos and other documents moving the project forward over long distances. Our clients love to have the ability to occasionally call the foreman in the field and ask them to text a photo.

Quality

Top to bottom, everyone at Shugart Builders takes great pride in the work we produce. We are not a production style builder. For us, building homes isn't just about pumping out a finished product at maximum profit. We want our homes to be around for generations. We use premium framing materials as a standard allowing us to have a warranty that surpasses our competitors.
